Cody Simpson was born on January 11, 1997 in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Growing up he was a competitive swimmer. He actually won two gold medals at the Queensland Swimming Championships. Simpson began to record songs in his bedroom during the summer of 2009, posting the videos on YouTube. Some of his covers at this time include “I”m Yours” by Jason Mraz, “Cry Me a River” and “Señorita” by Justin Timberlake, “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5. He also performed several of his own songs, including “One” and “Perfect”.
